Mismarkings
These photos are random
& only to show how much white some basenjis can have
I do not know the breeder, parents nor owner of any
basenji on this site - I only know that the basenjis on the photos are not
that old. I am not the only basenji breeder and owner, who is noticing litters
with much white on them -
Please Read the following
articles linked below
Mrs. Doreen Duffin has also published her thoughts on the subject -
read
here &
especially the part under colours:
"Ideally the white
should not reach above the hock or elbow, and apart from the optional collar,
there should be no white on the body. White markings in the overall body coat of
the dog should be penalised"

This is a splendid looking male,
however I had one who also had a red spot in his collar and an English judge
gave him a 2. price (Very Good) because he said my male was mismarked - (also known as the
Cambria/Mungai spot that is to go back to Orange Fizz of the Congo - or so I
hear - not sure if I think this is the reason behind the spot, but it explains
it?)
This was many years
ago - however the problem of too much white has not gone away, on the contrary -
and what to do about it?

Here are some photos of basenjis with much white on them & white not
according to the standard
and there is worse ....
Interesting
Russian website with photos of basenji colors
This
basenji male was sold as a pet to Lithuania - follow
the link to see his photo
This male was recently
shown - More and more basenjis
turn up with too much white, but this is ridiculous
Are these basenjis really what we want to breed and/or use in our
breedingprogramme?
